Hardscapes Stone Types

Old Chicago Brick Pavers

Old Chicago Brick are commonly used in Mediterranean style and historical buildings due to their “old world” look.  The original “Old Chicago” bricks came after the demolition of buildings during the  renovation and upgrading of very old neighborhoods in Chicago. Now many of these bricks are manufactured to resemble the original “Old Chicago” bricks.  These clay bricks range from pink tones to golden browns.  (old chicago brick detail)

Concrete Pavers

Concrete pavers are extremely dense and  exceptionally strong and durable; can handle  severe loads, and are unaffected by the extremes of heat and frost.  They are stronger than regular concrete surfaces and can take more abuse and last for many years.  Each paver unit has joints that allow for a small amount of expansion and contraction without cracking unlike concrete surfaces.  (photos: concrete paver detail, el dorado pool)
